It’s all a question of nerves
Or expressed scientifically, transmitter release to a motoric end plate. This is the subject of this picture and the following video. The motoric end plate, also termed the neuromuscular end plate, is the point of transference of a nerve excitation to a muscle fibril.
A transmission medium (transmitter) called acetycholine is passed to the synaptic gap by a profound neural stimulation (action potential) of the synaptic knob. This modulates the ion channels in the post-synaptic membrane of the muscle fibril in such a way that it becomes stimulated (depolarized).
